Since February 2025, Brainbox has been part of 20 nights across Bedford and beyond, from Afro Love: White Affair on 14 February 2025 to Ówànbè Naija in October 2026.
The sound
The nights have moved between Afrobeat, Amapiano, Dancehall, Hip-Hop and Bashment, with Highlife and R&B on the bill too. DJ Freshbeat and hypeman Slimstarg appear across many of the line-ups.
The places
Most nights were in Bedford, including Astons Bedford, Rodo Bar & Lounge and Ruby’s, with others in Luton, Northampton and Wellingborough.
The themes
There were dress-code nights, including the all-white Afro Love: White Affair and the Afro Rhythm Denim Party. There were live concerts, such as Atewo & His Melody Band, and the Alambus and Bhelcanto Band at Afro Highlife and Afro Love 2026. There were also cultural celebrations: Zim Independence Day and Ówànbè Naija.
